In 2015, I read and listened to the article “Addicted to Distraction” by Tony Schwartz on the New York Times.

When I (2)went over the essay, I was interested and sympathized with his opinion, but I thought that the dangers he mentioned through his personal experience were (4)blown out of proportion. However, I (3-1)went through the same symptoms as Toni mentioned these past few days, for example, lacking concentration, easily feeling exhausted etc. so I remembered his article.
In addition, I watched this YouTube video about “internet addiction”.
“What you need to know about internet addiction” | Dr. Kimberly Young | TEDxBuffalo

The speaker, Dr.Kimberly, recommended making time to turn off any kind of devices at least at once a day, especially for children and parents. She said that to stop using the internet for 48 hours is a good cure for the symptoms of internet addiction. I have no doubts that I am addicted to the internet because it feels impossible to stop going online even though my home electricity has (1)gone out.
Is this kind of thought one of the symptoms of addiction? Anyway, I want to do an experiment by cutting back on the time I spend on the internet. When should I do it? I finally decided to try it out on 16th June Saturday. After I do it, I’ll write about my thoughts on my experience. If I succeed with the experiment and get good results, I hope to continue doing it once a month.
