On the final day of 2017, I had new experiences and motivation to read books.
I joined a Jogging and Year End Party planned by my friends. The itinerary was interesting. We were supposed to gather at Nezu station at 5 pm. but I waited at another exit, so I was a little bit late. It was a really cold day; the lowest was 2.2 degrees Celsius and the highest was 5.4 degrees Celsius. Additionally, it was a first day of snowfall in Tokyo. Actually, I regretted saying that I would join and thought of not attending altogether. I thought that it might be better to go (4)bargain hunting more than jogging in a cold day. However, the organizer changed the jogging plan and made it shorter because one of the members was so exhausted. I (1)assorted him as a good leader and as a correct decision maker. Nobody (2)asserted to continue jogging.

As a result, I was completely satisfied that I attended. The distance of our run was just right for before the party! The public bath’s facility was enough for me. “Que Bom” is my favorite Brazilian restaurant. That day was special because there was a live performance of Brazilian music. All customers (3)applauded the musicians. We also enjoyed Brazilian food buffet.

I also met a sociologist from the University of Leeds introduced by my friends at the venue. He is temporarily in Japan to teach at a Japanese university. Now that I’m interested in sociology, it was a good opportunity for me. I asked him about which books are good for a beginner in sociology. I found Japanese translations of his recommendations, and reserved them in the public library. I’m really looking forward to reading them after this vacation.

After the party, we went to the famous temple of “Zenshoji” where the bell is struck 108 times on New Year’s Eve because the professor said he wanted to try it. We had to wait our turn under the cold sky for almost 30 minutes. Fortunately, the temple prepared hot drinks and free food, so we became a little warmer. At that time, we talked about Japanese custom and history. My friend spoke with him fluently, but I don’t have enough to skill and knowledge. My iPad completely helped with my poor communication skill. These experiences taught me that I need to train more in speaking English and learn more about Japanese history.

After the party, we went to the famous temple “Zenshoji” for ringing the bell 108 times on New Year’s Eve because the professor wanted to ring out the bell. We had to wait our turn under the cold sky almost 30 minutes. But the temple prepared hot drinks and food free, we became a little warmer.
