“HAMAGURI” is my most favorite clam.
I searched the name of HAMAGURI in English because I’m curious what they call.
It calls “Common oriental clam” , academic name is “Meretrix lusolia”.
(I’m not sure what I pronounce this…)
After the searching, I got new question that “SHIJIMI” is what they call?
Because I guess “SHIJIMI” is more “common” a dairy meal in Japan.
“SHIJIMI” is called “Fresh water clam”.
Hummmm… it gives me strange feeling…
However, I noticed that foods were named by the culture. It’s food culture.
Japanese like to eat many kinds of fishes and clams, so there are many names.
It’s food culture.
