I suddenly noticed the similarity of two cartoons when I watched them before I went to the office in the morning. I’ll try to compare “Doraemon”(1967-1996) made by a famous Japanese cartoon virtuoso and “Adventure Time”(2010-).
Both works are unprecedented, ingenious and have many aficionados. Both have suave human protagonists who are characterized as ordinary, but somewhat cowardly boys. They have a cool sidekick which is not human. The boy called “Nobita” who is the protagonist of “Doraemon” has a robot in the figure of a cat called “Doraemon”. He always meticulously helps Nobita.
The boy called “Finn” who is the protagonist of “Adventure Time” has the brazen dog “Jake,” for his sidekick. “Doraemon” and “Jake” act like wizards and help the pusillanimous heroes from risky situations.
These popular cartoons have Quixotic plots and characters. If people do not learn from these stunning works, many artists would not have created some ingenious stuff.
