I laughed when I’ve read some ironical sentences on the book “Homodeus” which was written by Yuval Noah Harari. It mentioned how different our situation compared to about 226 years ago. (It mentioned our situation of how different it is compared to about 226 years ago.) At that era, a huge amount of human died by starvation/hunger, but nowadays, numerous people are suffering from diabetes and obesity.
Queen Marie Antoinette who was one of the famous historical French women said, “If the citizens don’t have bread, why they don’t eat cakes or sweets?” Now, 21st century, poor citizens eat cake or any kind of cheap junk food. Almost all celebrities eat fresh salad and low-fat foods. It’s truly ironic.

In the eighteenth century Marie Antoinette allegedly advised the starving masses that if they ran out of bread, they should just eat cake instead. Today, the poor are following this advice to the letter. Whereas the rich residents of Beverly Hills eat lettuce salad and steamed tofu with quinoa, in the slums and ghettos the poor gorge on Twinkie cakes, Cheetos, hamburgers and pizza… …In 2010 famine and malnutrition combined killed about 1 million people, whereas obesity killed 3 million.

I already realize that fact when I was living in Japan. If I wanted to buy healthy food, it’s not affordable. On the other hand, Junk food and sugary drinks are always low price, thus its easy to buy. Now I’m living in Manila, Philippines. The situation is the same. If I feel hungry, I can buy unhealthy foods everywhere for 24/7 at affordable price. In my case, I stopped to eat anything until I feel hungry. Because I know the tragedy that people always eat anything even if they aren’t hungry… I realize that feeling hungry is the best spice of a meal. I fortunately don’t have related genes of cancer or diabetes from my parents. I appreciate that fact.
