There is massage spa near my condo and I finally tried it because I have been hesitating to visit it for about a month. (4)That is to say, I was doubting if it was good because I’ve never seen any customer when I passed by in front of it. However, I like taking on the challenge of trying out something new. I thought I should visit it and ask how much the massage was. If it was (2)chicken feed, I don’t see why I should hesitate in trying it. When I went through the shop door of the spa at around 4 pm last Saturday, there was no customers, as usual. A lady at the front desk politely answered my question.
“Can I ask the difference between Shiatsu massage and Swedish massage?”
” ******* ” I couldn’t figure out her words.
“I’m sorry, I don’t understand…”
“How about trying the combination massage? You can try both Shiatsu and Swedish“
“That’s sound nice. How much is it?”
“It’s the same at php 350 per an hour, like the other massages“
“I’d like to take that”
(I knew another spa’s massage was PHP480 per hour)
When I took body massage or went to a beauty salon before, I sometimes (1)chewed the fat with the therapist or stylist. If I were a polyglot who spoke Tagalog, I would try to the same thing, but I (3)chickened out at that time. Unfortunately, my introverted character won, but the massage was worth it. I’m proud of my good judgment.

Title: Combination Massage
There is a body massage spa near my condo, I finally tried it because I hesitated to visit there while about 1 month. (4)That is to say, I was doubted that was not so good because I’ve never seen any customer when I went through in front of the spa. However, I am a challenger of new experience. I thought I should visit there and ask the price of the massage. If it was (2)chicken feed, I don’t have any reason to hesitate try it. When I opened the door of the salon at 4 pm on Saturday, There was no customer as usual. A lady at the front desk politely answered my question.
“Can I ask the difference Shiatsu massage and Swedish massage?”
” ******* ” I couldn’t figure out her words.
“I’m sorry, I don’t understand…”
“How about combination massage? You can try both Shiatsu and Swedish”
“That’s sound nice. How much the cost?”
“It’s same as php350 per an hour as other plans”
“I’d like to take that”
(I knew other spa’s massage is PHP480 per hour)
When I took body massage or went to a beauty salon before, I sometimes (1)chewed the fat with the therapist or beautician. If I were a polyglot who speak in Tagalog, I would try to the same thing, but I (3)chickened out at that time. Unfortunately, my introvert character won, but the massage was worth over the price. I’m proud of my judgment.
homework:
(1)chew the fat: If you chew the fat with somebody, you chat in an informal way about unimportant things.
(e.g.) “It’s amazing the amount of time my grandparents can spend chewing the fat with their neighbours.”
(2)chicken feed: An amount of money considered small or unimportant is called chicken feed.
(e.g.) “I got a job during the holidays but the pay was chicken feed.”
(3)chicken out: If you chicken out of something, you decide not to do something because you are afraid.
(e.g.) “He decided to join a karate class, but chickened out at the last minute.”
(4) That is to say
Usage: “That is” and “that is to say” can be used to add further detail to your explanation, or to be more precise.
Example: “Whales are mammals. That is to say, they must breathe air.”
