I already finished absentee voting, but I don’t (3)fancy my decision in this election. Because I still don’t understand why we have to vote now.
The 48th Lower House general election and The supreme judge national review will be held in Japan on Oct. 22. (4)All hell broke loose when it was announced that the election was going to happen. Is it for real? I don’t think so. It only appears in the mass media. Politicians’ attitudes (2)feed off the citizen’s enthusiasm for election. Many famous politicians (1)ferried themselves to the rural areas to campaign with local candidates. The aim is to get a large number of votes from the elderly people. Because many young people don’t have the intention to vote. It’s a controversial problem in Japan. I guess it’s a strategy by politicians who have already seized power. If more young people vote, the old politicians are put at greater risk.
To begin with, I searched for information on the internet. I got the official documents introducing election candidates, called the election bulletin. That’s not enough for me to decide, so I read several people’s opinion online and checked some Tweets.
Finally, I selected one candidate, one political party, and selected 2 men who are not suitable to become the supreme court judge. I wrote it all down on the ballot, but I was still curious. How much would this election cost? The election cost was 557 hundred million yen in 2014. How much would it cost this time?
I watched a documentary movie created in 2010. The title is “An African Election”. It described the 2008 presidential election in Ghana. There was a lot of confusion.
Comparing the Japanese election to the Ghanian one, It’s a fair system and avoids corruption or injustice in theory. But in practice, there is another problem—indifference to politics.
