There is a controversial topic about whether friends are necessary or not. One celebrity, Mr.Hayashi who is a teacher of famous cram school said: “It’s better we have a few friends than keeping many friends.” He had (1)put this idea forward on a tv broadcast, in (4)broad daylight of the 29th July. Actually, I didn’t get to watch the TV program, but my favorite author Mr.Okada elaborated and analyzed Mr. Hayashi’s opinion based on the book, “Capital Theory of Happiness” written by Akira Tachibana. When I read Mr. Okada’s article I immediately wanted to read that book. I tried to order the book on the internet, but the delivery would be (2)put off for 3 or 4 days. I changed my mind and went to a bookstore near my office. I had (3)put on my tablet and searched whether the store had it or not. It’s not so easy to find the correct shelf. At first I picked a wrong book since there were many and I had to (5)put away. Finally, I found the correct one that I wanted to read. Now I’m in the middle of reading that book. Mr.Tachibana’s theory is interesting and sounds very fresh. He elaborated on what happiness is and showed us a typical situation.
The situations were categorized into 8 patterns based on 3 types of capitals according to him. The capitals are Money, Human, Social. Some capitals can combine and make different 8 patterns.
(I’m sorry since I’m not through with the book, I couldn’t go into the details yet) In conclusion, If we want to become happier, It requires some kind of social connectedness, but of course, it depends on the person. Mr. Okada explained that the celebrities like as Mr.Hayashi already have enough capital, explaining why they don’t require more friends and that they can’t stand keeping low-cost performance friends. I’m enjoying the 3 difference of opinions between these 3 people.
