A letter arrived at my home last Friday which was an invitation for my old friend’s group exhibition that will be held at O museum on Saturday. She is a Japanese painter living in Toyama, her paintings are about subdued and silent landscapes. It gives me a nostalgic feeling because her paintings remind me of my hometown’s seasonal scents and sounds; frog’s singing in the paddy fields, the summer hot wind, the rice harvest and, the silence of falling snow. In this exhibition’s her paintings are the scenery of waterside, watching like by the canoe. Actually, I’m jealous of her creative talent. I attended some creative classes with her. She really has a talent of creating pictures. She is passionate about creating new things. I’m always jealous of her because I have no talent. She has continued painting and creating beautiful things.
