My friend recommended a capoeira-related YouTube video about the Brazilian instrument, Berimbau. It was a music TV program presented by a famous violinist. That day’s guest was a female singer, Lisa Ono. She is Japanese but sings Bossa Nova in fluent Portuguese. The other guest was a Japanese traditional guitar player, Hiromitsu Agatsuma, he plays the “Tsugaru-Jamisen”. Somebody said he was an eccentric at first, but he used the old style of Japanese music to something revolutionary. I watched the video this morning while commuting by train on my iPad-mini. The collaboration between the violin, guitar, piano, tsugaru-jamisen and Lisa’s voice is exciting. Actually, the berimbau was featured for few minutes, around 17:00-17:05 but I’m really glad to have listened to and watched it. I really appreciate my friend’s recommendation.
