How many negative emotions do I have? Fear, anger, sadness, jealousy, neglect, laziness, powerlessness, etc… I discussed those emotions with my friends based on several books last Saturday. One of my friends criticized her boss who acts like as dictator. We listened to the details of her story, as a result, we advised her to change jobs, although I knew that was not easy decision for her.

When I was a civil servant who collected taxes, I was 26 – 29 years old, some middle-aged men (2)hurled insults at me. At that time I got a surge of anger, but I had patience because I knew it was meaningless even if I said some logical form of resistance. These experiences were (3)the acid test to my aptitude of being public servant. I learned about the dark sides of human nature during that time. That’s the positive side. However, I realized it was difficult to continue the same job. As a consequence, I decided to move and get married and quit my job, my life drastically changed.

I learned 2 things from our discussion. There are some situations we will be able to change by ourselves. “In an unfair or unacceptable situation, If you say nothing or do nothing, it is tantamount to accepting the situation.” Negative emotions are not so bad if you can handle and use it in a positive way.

You don’t need to (1)hustle to decision. Calm down and analyze the situation. Writing down one’s own emotions are effective to doing so. Talking to somebody is also effective if you choose suitable people.
