I watched the latest “the Pirates of the Caribbean” movie with my mother in August. At that time, I also saw the trailer of “Wonder woman”. I felt surprised at my being more interested in pirates. However, I had almost totally forgotten to check it until I had listened to my favorite podcast— Bilingual News vol.280, 31th August.

The podcast is in a news program format. The duo of a male and female (Michel and Mami) casters share topics they are interested in and ①impart their opinion or related experience about it. In that episode, Mami shared her thoughts when she watched “Wonder woman”.
“That gave me the strange epiphany that got me somewhat depressed and empowered at the same time,” Mami said.

For example, in the movie “300”, There’re so many strong men who do crazy stunts and everything. it’s cool, but it’s totally irrelevant to her. Because they’re men. Of course, they can do those things. Of course, they’re stronger than her. So she had felt depressed. But the movie “Wonder woman” empowered her. She thought “Wow! A bunch of strong women”.

I completely empathized with her. So I realized why I like her so much. I guess Men still ③hold all the aces in this world. It’s a fundamental fact. When I was young I was ②imbibed so much alcohol almost as much as a man would. I thought it’s one of the proofs of becoming equal to men, but it’s mistaken. I realized I was stupid. I have to throw away sex prejudice, but it’s not so easy.
