I found an event on Mr.Fujii’s twitter. That’s the main reason why I’m going to Kyoto. I’m not a novice of Twitter, however, these days I’ve especially become an aficionado of it because it brings me useful information. Mr.Fujii and Mr. Matsumoto (translators) will read aloud excerpts of their latest work. Mr.Ishii (novelist) will make a story without advance preparation.
I’ve never met him before but I’ve read several of his books. I read several of his articles and they’ve inspired me. I don’t know whether or not they are polyglots, at the very least, they certainly know a lot about English. They translated a virtuoso’s novel and won a prize for translation in 2017.
I hope they are not haughty in real life when I see them at the event. Maybe it’s just my needless anxiety. The event will have a glib atmosphere and will depend on what part of a story they pick. It will also be a good experience if they have a vociferous discussion.
Translating and/or writing the novels is an ascetic practice that requires a lot of endurance. Thus, I highly respect them.
