There are 4 tough questions that demand a quick response but also require me to think of things on my own and merge my thoughts. My esteemed friend regularly holds her book club meeting related to the book “The Artist’s Way.”
I often attended it, but I haven’t been able to these past months due to my schedule.
Luckily, my colleague agreed to cover my shift so I would be able to attend this Saturday’s meeting.
Before the meeting, I have to come up with answers with the following tough questions:
1.What is troubling me in my current situation?
My working style at my current company. I’ve been working there for almost 5 years but I have doubts on my job’s value. Recently, I’ve been having difficulties with too much work. I have several kinds of tasks which I need to do on my own. Actually, I like working alone, but it’s too much. I think my salary is not commensurate to the amount of work I do. I tend to lose much of my private time.
2.What are it’s merits for me to consider staying in the status quo?
I can solve some problems on my job and I find it interesting.
Updating websites and organizing seminars are sometimes fun. I also like my company’s location and building. I respect my boss and most of my colleagues. If I can improve our company’s revenue, I might get a higher salary but it would require sacrificing a lot of my private time. Unfortunately, I have no interest in doing that.
3.What will happen in the future if I don’t change things?
I’ll probably regret it if I don’t change jobs. I’ll fail to improve my skills and won’t get new experiences. There is a tendency for me to get demotivated.
4.What options do I have?
I should broaden my horizons and ask my friends for their opinions. I might also negotiate my tasks and life/work balance with my boss. Finally, I can start searching and applying for a new job.
