I decided to continue being the organizer of my book club even after I started living in Manila in November 2018.When I worked in Tokyo, I held a book club meeting in Ikebukuro once a month since August 2012. I (1)burnt the candle at both ends sometimes, because I preferred to prepare everything alone.I didn’t want to recognize that I (2)can’t hold a candle to myself when it comes to holding an event. It was not so difficult to manage after I made the monthly routine. However, I decided to quit my previous job and moved to Manila. At that time, I thought I (3)can’t for the life of me hold the book club meeting anymore. One of my friends recommended (it is already understood that it was recommended to you so me is not necessary) that we use the online meeting system Zoom.As a result, I could hold the Zoom meeting in November. There were 6 attendees including myself. I was glad to meet the regular members as usual. I rely on my routine because it helps me to continue the event. I hope I can continue this routine until the 100th meeting.   (There are 12 sessions left)

I decided to continue the organizer of book reading club even after I started living in Manila in November 2018.
When I was worked in Tokyo, I’ve been holding a book club meeting in Ikebukuro once a month since August 2012. I (1)burnt the candle at both ends sometimes, because I preferred to prepare everything alone.
I didn’t want to recognize that I (2)can’t hold a candle to myself when it comes to holding an event. It was not so difficult to manage after I made the monthly routine. However, I decided to quit the previous job and started live in Manila. At that time, I thought I (3)can’t for the life of me hold the book club meeting anymore. One of my friends recommended me that we should use the online meeting system for Zoom.
As a result, I could hold the Zoom meeting in November. There were 6 attendees included me. I was glad to meet regular members as usual. I rely on my routine because it helps me to continue the event. I hope I continue its routine until 100 times of the book club meeting.  (remaining is at least 12 times)

homework:
(1) burn the candle at both ends: If you burn the candle at both ends, you exhaust yourself by doing too much, especially going to bed late and getting up early.
(e.g) “Scott looks exhausted – I’ll bet he’s been burning the candle at both ends lately.”
(2)can’t hold a candle to: If one person can’t hold a candle to another, they are much less competent or do not perform as well as the other.
(e.g) “John is very intelligent but he can’t hold a candle to his brother Paul when it comes to sports.”
(3)can’t for the life of me: This expression can be used to say that it is impossible for you to do something, no matter how hard you try.
(e.g) “I can’t for the life of me remember the title of the book.”

notice
In this article, I try to appropriate use 4 phrasal verbs(No.1~3) in this article which I write my daily life and thoughts because I’m learning English. This is one of writing training.
