Some of my friends say, “No Music, No Life.” It’s difficult to completely agree with them now, but I understand. Some artists and their music (2)conquered my attention several times in my life. At that time, the music occupied much of my time. However, I got energy for an active life from it. Why does music have this kind of power? I searched the history of music because it piqued my curiosity
In the ancient times, around the 5th century, Japanese traditional music called GAGAKU was created based on Confucianism theology; It synchronizes correct behavior and music. There is a legend that says correct music helps to keep the peace while disturbed music will bring a period of disorder. Thus, one of the important missions of emperor was keeping correct temperament of music. Dancing and playing music has been (1)consecrated in big ceremonies in Buddist temples. It’s an interesting history.
I have another example. I’m learning Capoeira which is related to Brazilian traditional culture. It began with African slavery in Brazil since the 16th century. It uses some musical instruments. There are several rhythms which have meanings. Those are associated with a specific game (i.e. style and speed of play).
These days I don’t have any favorite music. If I find a new one, my mental well-being will be (4)in the bag. However, it’s not so easy to find fit a for my tastes.

homework: (1)consecrate, (2)conquer, (3)confiscate
Expression:(4)in the bag
People use this expression when it becomes obvious that success or victory is going to be achieved.
An hour before the polling stations closed, victory seemed in the bag for the Conservative candidate.
