Friday, July 1st is my capoeira trainer’s birthday and First Friday of the month is regularly held the Roda; Roda’s meaning is a circle in Portuguese. Capoeira members make people’s circle into the two persons, play the instruments and sing songs. The two person do like a battle, but it’s not directly hit the kicks, it favorites to like dance graceful, and tricky.
The regular monthly Roda is decided to celebrate that month’s birthday person. Guess how to celebrate? The birthday person has to battle other all members. That’s the way of celebrating of capoeira in Regional; it’s one of the old styles. It’s like a test that how much the person improves since last years birthday.
I really impressed my trainer’s power and technique because she is 2 years elder than me, and she played 10 people 2 times. It was amazing, I respect her more than before.
