I have a drum that I bought from my first capoeira trainer when he had to temporarily close his classes 5 years ago. The drum is called “Atabuque” in Portuguese. It is used in capoeira. However, my motivation for that musical instrument was not too high at that time. I bought it because my trainer had troubled selling it, and the price was really affordable. Soon after, I lent my Atabaque to my friend who was at a higher level than me. He had already his own students. I thought that was a better because if I didn’t practice the Atabaque, it is worthless. But if he taught his students using my Atabaque, it would affect them in a meaningful way. They can more clearly understand what capoeira is. It has been almost 5 years. Recently, I needed to practice the Atabaque. So I sent him a message, “I want to play that again. Can I get it back?” After a while, he replied that he’s sorry because the drum calfskin is broken.
